A bit about me
Maker of Things
Hi, I’m Andy Valentine, and I’m a costume maker, cosplayer, LARPer, prop maker, and all around creative sort living in Bristol UK.
A few years ago, a friend of mine convinced me to go to my first comic con, and I couldn’t imagine not dressing up as from the outside it seemed so much the norm, so I sat down in front of a sewing machine for the first time, and some 300 hours of learning to use it, as well as touching on leather work, foam craft and many other skills for the first time, I was totally hooked on the art of costume making.
Now, a number of years down the line, it’s my main passion in life, and I spend more time than I care to admit working on costumes, and learning the skills that I need in order to create things of increasingly high standard.
Due to an eye for detail that I accredit to my day job as a creative developer, I pride myself on the ability to search out the tiniest little details of each costume that I produce, and then replicate those details to the best of my ability; and I feel that I’m approaching a point where I can create costumes that I’m truly proud of, which is an amazing feeling.
In my time as a cosplayer, I’ve been privileged enough to be approached to feature in numerous articles and pieces surrounding the art, and am constantly humbled by the response to my work and my following gained within the community. It has opened up some wonderful doors and introduced me to people that constant inspire and motivate me to be better, as well as allowing me to meet my amazing other half Maria, and as such I can’t imagine a better way to spend my free time.
